Yoplait Diet Restrictions, Exercises & Effectiveness

For those of you who are looking to lose some weight, there are a bounty of different diet plans available. Some of the plans out there are very strict, with clearly outlined foods that you can and cannot eat, and they require a lot of work such as weighing your food or cutting out so many things that taste good that they make you feel like you are sacrificing too much. Others are so severely restrictive that they give you a sense that you may actually be hurting yourself physically – they cut out so many calories that they leave you feeling weak or dizzy, or so robbed of any pleasure in eating that you quickly break the diet’s rules and go back to your old ways of eating.

The Yoplait diet offers a sensible reduction in calories that includes eating something that is so sweet and delicious that tastes like you’re cheating, and that is a winning combination if you are looking to lose a few pounds over the course of a couple of weeks. Although there have been a couple of variations of this diet released over the last couple of years, the most recent incarnation that Yoplait is providing on their website is called the Yoplait Two Week Tune Up Program.

Overview

The Yoplait Two Week tune Up Program is a sensible way to make sure that you are eating enough calcium, fruit and grains while providing you with something that is tasty and easy to prepare. The diet is relatively simple. It involves replacing your normal lunch and dinner with a Yoplait yogurt, your choice of fresh fruit, and a serving of a health whole grain. Dinner includes lean protein such as chicken or fish, and a satisfying selection of vegetables prepared in a way that involves little fat, such as steaming, or eating them raw. Because the Yoplait yogurts come in such a wide variety of flavors, you are able to make sure that you never get bored with what you are eating, and can even fool yourself into thinking you’re treating yourself to dessert. Perhaps more importantly, the Yoplait contains a healthy portion of calcium, and research has shown that eating low fat dairy is a tremendous way to boost your diet efforts. People who include low-fat dairy two or three times a day have been shown to lose over twenty percent more weight and to cut their body fat by an even greater percentage.

Restrictions

The Yoplait diet is really a meal replacement diet it works by substituting two
of your normal meals with meals that are low in calories and fat, and counts on you to be equally smart with dinner. It doesn’t really provide you with restrictions, although cutting out high fat and high sugar elements in your third meal of the day will certainly boost your weight loss. The same is true for snacks – it is advised that you restrict yourself to fresh fruits, vegetables or low fat dairy for any snacking that you do in-between your meals.

Exercise Component

The Yoplait diet does recommend that you supplement the meal plans with thirty to forty minutes of walking per day. There are also recommendations that you get a buddy to go on the diet with you and that you walk with them; there is more than just common science and social value to this recommendation; research has shown that dieters are far more successful if they have a support network encouraging them in their efforts, and walking for more than half an hour a day is a great way to burn off extra calories as well as improving the health of your cardiovascular system.

Cost

Because yogurt is so inexpensive, buying two weeks’ worth of yogurts to eat for lunch and breakfast will add less than $25 dollars to your weekly grocery bill, and may actually end up saving you money – after all, you are using the yogurt to replace whatever you were eating before for those meals, and there is a good chance that those items may have been more expensive than the yogurt.

Effectiveness

The Yoplait diet works exceptionally well if what you are looking to achieve is a
modest weight loss over a two week period. Losing a couple of pounds a week is a realistic and healthy weight loss, and as long as you stick to the program, including adding the forty minutes of walking, you are likely to find that it is a very effective plan. If you are looking for a way to drop a lot more weight than five pounds, it is not likely to be as helpful for you.
